Food Hygiene And Storage Tips You MUST Not Ignore

To be contaminated by the very food you put in your mouth is the last thing anybody wants to happen! But unfortunately, only a handful of people even pay attention to proper food hygiene and storage.

You see, food hygiene training must start from one's home. After all, that's where you spend most of your time. That's where you store your food and eat them. Here are some simple food hygiene and storage tips that you should keep in mind:

- Your refrigerator - not just the freezer, chiller, etc but the whole ref must be cleaned and defrosted at least 3 times a week. And when you clean it, you should take care of the mess and the spillages right away.

- Your cupboards, larders, and other utensil storage facilities must be clean. No, not just clean but spotless. Think about it - these utensils go straight to your mouth! One could only imagine how many germs and viruses a dirty cup or spoon has.

- Do what professional kitchens do - your shelves shouldn't be against the wall. This makes it easier for pet to infiltrate your kitchen shelves. They must be about 30-40 cm away from the wall.

- Foods and dishes like milk, cheese, and others that are highly perishable must be stored in the fridge and not in the larder!

- Your food supplies must be rotated on a regular basis. What came in first must be consumed first. The same thing goes for those food supplies you bought an hour ago.

- This may sound simple but after seeing many households and kitchens fail it, one must be reminded that food for humans must be separated from the food for your pet dog or cat.

- Your cleaning materials and other cleaning equipments must not be stored in the kitchen. It must be kept from any food storage spaces. Additionally, keep them locked in and away from the reach of kids.
